NEW DELHI — In a major push toward achieving the central government’s objective of a drug-free India, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, is scheduled to chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the high-level convention will adopt a “whole-of-government” approach, bringing together stakeholders from 44 Central Ministries and Departments alongside 108 representatives from State Governments and Drug Law Enforcement Agencies via hybrid mode.

Unveiling the Strategic Blueprint: Vision Document (2026–2029)

A key highlight of the apex meeting will be the release of the “Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029)”, which sets measurable targets for law enforcement and social rehabilitation over the next three years.

The comprehensive roadmap transitions India’s anti-narcotics strategy into a network-centric enforcement model focused on three core pillars: Supply Reduction through intelligence-led enforcement, Demand Reduction via targeted youth outreach, and Harm Reduction by expanding healthcare and rehabilitation access. The framework is specifically designed to tackle modern trafficking vulnerabilities, including darknet-enabled smuggling pipelines and the rapid proliferation of synthetic drugs.

Key Operational Milestones & Infrastructure Expansion

The Home Minister will also spearhead massive structural and operational updates to reinforce the country’s anti-drug architecture:

    • Massive Drug Destruction: Shah will launch the Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign. Under this special drive, central and state law enforcement units will legally destroy approximately 2,09,500 kg of seized narcotics worth ₹6,000 crore across India.

    • NCB Infrastructure Expansion: To plug transit vulnerabilities along critical border corridors, newly built NCB Zonal Offices in Jammu and Guwahati will be officially inaugurated.

    • NCB Annual Report 2025: The Home Minister will release the comprehensive annual performance dossier mapping syndicate crackdowns achieved over the past year.

“This high-level review will reinforce the Government’s ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ against drug trafficking, clearly defining responsibilities, timelines, and measurable targets across all state and central enforcement wings.” — Ministry of Home Affairs (Official Statement)
