DHANBAD — In a major push to reinforce institutional transparency and achieve zero-tolerance governance across India’s coal sector, Coal India Limited (CIL) Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy has concluded a high-level, two-day inspectorial tour of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
The second leg of his executive visit focused heavily on auditing advanced digital infrastructure and automated surveillance networks across BCCL’s critical Sijua and Katras operational hubs in Dhanbad. Tripathy was accompanied by a senior leadership delegation, including BCCL’s Director (Technical – Planning & Projects) Shri Rajeev Kumar Sinha and BCCL CVO Ms. Deepti Patel.
Inspection of Digital Area Command Centres
A central focus of the tour was an exhaustive technical assessment at the Integrated Command & Control Centres (ICCC) in both administrative divisions. Led by Sijua General Manager Shri Nirjhar Chakraborty and Katras General Manager Shri B.K. Jha, the executive team evaluated real-time tracking pipelines engineered to block leakages and streamline coal supply chains.
Tripathy highly commended BCCL’s shift toward automated, human-independent monitoring mechanisms, noting that embedding IT platforms into daily routines effectively neutralizes traditional operational vulnerabilities.
Four Key Technological Pillars Evaluated:

RFID-Enabled Systems: Operating seamlessly at weighbridges and transit points to completely eliminate manual intervention and dynamically validate coal dispatches.

ANPR-Based Surveillance: Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras tracking critical exits to secure logistics perimeters against unauthorized truck movements.

e-Hindrance Monitoring System: A dedicated administrative platform designed to map out and systematically clear project roadblocks and disputes.

SAP-Linked Biometric Attendance: Transitioning worker payroll and attendance tracking directly into the secure enterprise resource planning ecosystem to ensure absolute workforce accountability.
Preparing Management Trainees for the Future
Following the core system audits, the high-level committee shifted focus to human resource development at Prajwala Hall, where they reviewed analytical presentations mapping out BCCL’s production targets and infrastructure benchmarks.
Addressing a large group of newly inducted Management Trainees, Tripathy emphasized that corporate vigilance functions as an operational growth enabler rather than an administrative roadblock. “Vigilance, absolute integrity, and transparency form the bedrock of sustainable corporate performance,” Tripathy stated, urging the young engineers to maintain the highest levels of professional accountability.
To highlight BCCL’s ongoing ecosystem reclamation and greening initiatives, the visiting dignitaries wrapped up the high-profile inspection by leading a sapling plantation drive across the local residential complex.
