RISHIKESH — Leading power sector PSU THDC India Limited celebrated its 39th Foundation Day on Tuesday. While celebrations took place across all of the enterprise’s regional and national offices, the central commemorative event was hosted at its corporate headquarters in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
The ceremony was kicked off by Managing Director Shri Sipan Kumar Garg, who hoisted the company flag and addressed the workforce, commending their collective efforts in driving the organization’s growth.

During his address, Shri Garg highlighted the utility major’s rapid expansion, revealing that THDC’s total power generation capacity has reached a historic high of 3,907 MW.

The 1,000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) in Uttarakhand.

The 1,320 MW Khurja Thermal Power Project in Uttar Pradesh.

A Balance of Energy: The commissioning of these projects underscores THDC’s evolution from a purely hydro-focused entity into a multi-resource power producer, leveraging pumped storage and super-critical thermal technology.

The Foundation Day celebrations concluded with a specialized awards ceremony honoring veterans who shaped the company’s financial and operational trajectories.

Naman Award: Former Director (Finance) Shri J. Behera was conferred with the prestigious ‘Naman Award’ in recognition of his stellar leadership and fiscal stewardship during his tenure.
