MY Bharat Launches Month-Long Anti-Drug ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme’

NEW DELHI — In a major youth outreach initiative aimed at combining civic responsibility with public health advocacy, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through its MY Bharat platform, has announced the launch of the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP).

The month-long nationwide campaign, themed “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat,” will run from July 16 to August 15, 2026, targeting universities and colleges to build a drug-free, developed India by 2047.

    Engaging Students via Peer Leadership

The initiative focuses heavily on institutional engagement and peer-to-peer inspiration to drive its anti-substance abuse message home:

    • Youth Icons as Ambassadors: The campaign will feature prominent youth leaders, including State Champions of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, National Youth Parliament winners, and NSS Awardees. These icons will visit educational campuses to lead interactive sessions on nation-building and emphasize how drug abuse derails individual and national progress.

    • Target Audience: The awareness drive is strategically tailored for young citizens in the 15–25 age bracket across rural, urban, and tribal communities.

    • Campuses as Change Hubs: Participating colleges and universities are encouraged to set up dedicated MY Bharat Chapters to ensure long-term student engagement beyond the month-long drive.

    Awareness Modules and Digital Integration

The VBYCP framework utilizes a mix of multimedia messaging, community pledges, and institutional framework building:

    • Awareness & Recovery Testimonials: Students will participate in interactive presentations, screen curated awareness films on the impact of addiction, and take the official Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge. To deepen the emotional impact, the sessions will also feature real-life recovery stories shared by “Recovery Warriors” in partnership with spiritual groups and NGOs.

    • On-the-Spot Portal Registrations: Dedicated MY Bharat facilitation desks will be deployed at all event venues to drive instant, digital registrations on the central portal and connect students with wider government youth development schemes.

The Strategic View: Linking anti-drug advocacy directly to the ‘Vitsit Bharat’ national development timeline shows a shift toward treating substance abuse as a macroeconomic and demographic threat. By leveraging top-tier student achievers as frontline communicators, the government is betting on peer influence rather than top-down lectures to shield its vital student demographic.
