    Tata Power Secures ₹3,200 Crore Karnataka Solar Power Evacuation Project

    New Delhi | July 31, 2026

    In a key step toward expanding India’s clean energy grid, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has completed the handover of project SPV Ryapte Power Transmission Limited to The Tata Power Company Limited.

    Tata Power secured the intra-state power transmission project in Karnataka via Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). The power major will develop the infrastructure on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis over a 30-month timeline, investing an estimated ₹3,200 crore. The project is designed to evacuate power generated from the 2,000 MW solar park located in Ryapte Village, Tumkur District.

    The formal transfer was executed between Monisha Barua (GM & HoD, RECPDCL) and Tarun Katiyar (CEO & MD, TPTCL), alongside officials from the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).

    Infrastructure Key Deliverables

    • Primary Substation Assets: 400/220 kV Substation at Ryapte and a 400/220 kV GIS Substation at Doddathaggalli.

    • High-Voltage Corridor: 207 km of 400 kV Double Circuit lines (Doddathaggalli–Ryapte & Kolar) and 57 km of 220 kV Double Circuit lines (Doddathaggalli–Ekarajapura, Hosakote & Sarjapura).

    Transaction & Project Overview

    • Project SPV: Ryapte Power Transmission Limited

    • Bid Process Coordinator: RECPDCL (Subsidiary of REC Limited)

    • Acquirer / Developer: The Tata Power Company Limited

    • State Partner: Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL)

    • Capital Outlay: ~₹3,200 Crore

    • Execution Period: 30 Months

    • Sector: Renewable Energy Grid Evacuation, Power Infrastructure & CPSE Transactions
