NEW DELHI — India’s Software Technology Parks (STP) scheme recorded a major financial milestone, generating an estimated ₹7,73,898.97 crore in software and IT-enabled services (IT/ITeS) exports during Fiscal Year 2025–26, according to official ministry data.

The figures, presented by Union Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Lok Sabha, highlight consistent year-on-year growth across the nation’s IT export ecosystem, rising from ₹6,36,619.87 crore in FY 2023–24 and ₹6,88,194.11 crore in FY 2024–25.

Key Macro Trends & Operations (FY 2025–26)

    • Registered Active Units: Total operational STP units expanded to 2,125 nationwide, up from 2,042 in the previous fiscal year.

    • Import Values: Equipment and technology imports by registered units stood at an estimated ₹9,960.26 crore.

    • Capital Investments: Reported capital investments by STP units reached ₹7,362.86 crore.

    Top Export-Performing States

The latest dataset underscores the dominance of traditional technology hubs, along with steady contributions from emerging state ecosystems:

State / Union Territory Registered Units (2025–26) Exports (in ₹ Crore)
    Karnataka 391 3,50,184.78
    Maharashtra 367 1,62,594.11
    Telangana 280 1,13,101.83
    Tamil Nadu 391 60,591.28
    Uttar Pradesh 107 28,442.69
    Haryana 87 26,885.28
    West Bengal 68 10,888.26

Key Ease of Doing Business Measures

To accelerate growth and simplify regulatory compliance for 100% export-oriented units, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has implemented several administrative and digital reforms:

    • Automated Statutory Services: Complete automation of SOFTEX filing, verification, and approval workflows for faster turnarounds.

    • RBI EDPMS Integration: Real-time electronic integration between STPI’s portal and the Reserve Bank of India’s Export Data Processing and Monitoring System to streamline regulatory data exchanges and minimize manual intervention.

    • Simplified Import Guidelines: Replaced case-by-case import approval requirements with comprehensive, blanket annual import permissions.

    • Self-Declaration for DTA Sales: Transitioned from mandatory prior permissions to a self-declaration framework for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) sales (excluding first-year advance sales).
