NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared a formal letter addressed to the women of India (Nari Shakti), reiterating the government’s steadfast commitment to implementing women’s reservation in legislative bodies.
The Prime Minister noted that there is widespread appreciation for the initiative, which seeks to reserve seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies starting from the 2029 General Elections. In his message, shared via social media, the Prime Minister emphasized that his administration is dedicated to realizing this long-pending reform, which had remained unresolved for decades.
The letter serves as a direct communication to the nation’s “mothers, sisters, and daughters,” outlining the government’s vision for enhanced female representation in India’s democratic framework and the early fulfillment of this constitutional commitment.
