NAGPUR — In a major boost to travel healthcare in Central India, AIIMS Nagpur inaugurated its dedicated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre on April 23, 2026. Approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the facility will provide mandatory immunization and certification for individuals traveling to endemic regions in Africa and South America.

The center aims to simplify the process for travelers from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, ensuring they meet international health regulations while preventing the disease’s entry into India.

    Key Service Details

    • Location: Adult Immunisation Clinic, Room No. 24, Ground Floor (IPD Block), AIIMS Nagpur.

    • Operating Hours: Thursdays (excluding holidays), 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

    • Cost: ₹300 for the vaccine plus a ₹10 OPD registration fee.

    • Effectiveness: The vaccine becomes valid 10 days after administration and provides lifetime protection.

    Registration and Requirements

Travelers are required to follow a structured process to obtain their certification:

    1. Online Registration: Fill out the mandatory Google Form to request an appointment.

    2. Verification: Eligibility is confirmed via email or phone call.

    3. Documentation: On the day of the appointment, beneficiaries must carry a valid passport, proof of travel, and a signed consent form.

    4. Post-Vaccination: A 30-minute observation period is mandatory before the official certificate is issued.

    Strengthening Regional Healthcare

Executive Director Dr. Prashant P. Joshi emphasized that the center is a critical addition to the region’s preventive healthcare infrastructure. By offering this specialized service, AIIMS Nagpur eliminates the need for residents of Central India to travel to distant metro cities for mandatory international travel clearances.

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease; while not present in India, strict vaccination protocols remain a cornerstone of global biosecurity.
