NEW DELHI: Following the strong response to its inaugural event in New Delhi, the Ministry of Coal is set to host its next high-level roadshow on Coal and Lignite Gasification Projects in Hyderabad tomorrow, June 11, 2026.
The specialized event underscores growing investor and industry confidence in India’s clean coal transition. It aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced technology to drive sustainable resource utilization and bolster national energy security.
The Hyderabad roadshow will feature Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, as the Chief Guest, alongside Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, as the Guest of Honour. The session will also be attended by Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary (Coal), and Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary (Coal), alongside central and state government representatives, technology providers, and institutional investors.
Unlocking Clean Coal Technology
Coal gasification converts domestic coal and lignite into synthesis gas (syngas). This chemical building block can be processed into high-value chemical alternatives, significantly cutting India’s import reliance:
-
Methanol & Synthetic Natural Gas: Serving as cleaner alternative fuels and blending agents.
-
Ammonium Nitrate: A critical raw component for the domestic fertilizer and explosive manufacturing sectors.
-
Industrial Chemicals: Diversifying the economic applications of India’s vast domestic coal reserves.
The Ministry of Coal has introduced several targeted policy incentives and financial assistance packages to de-risk these capital-intensive projects. The roadshow will serve as a primary platform to map out technology transfers, iron out project execution strategies, and build public-private partnerships.
By bringing together global technology suppliers, public sector undertakings, and private financiers, the initiative looks to build a self-sustaining commercial ecosystem that aligns with the broader Aatmanirbhar Bharat mandate for the energy sector.
