KOLKATA — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake a high-profile, two-day visit to West Bengal on June 20–21, 2026. The itinerary combines high-value agricultural welfare disbursements, multi-sector infrastructure rollouts, core naval commissionings, and the leadership of the national International Day of Yoga event.

Day 1: Hooghly (June 20, 3:45 PM) — “Paschimbanga Divas” & Rural Development

The Prime Minister will launch the state-level Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day) celebrations at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district—a site historically tied to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Under the theme “West Bengal: Heritage, Harmony and Development,” the Prime Minister will unveil a multi-sector development bundle.

    1. Direct Benefit Transfers & Agricultural Welfare

    • 23rd PM-KISAN Instalment: The PM will release over ₹18,880 crore nationally, directly benefiting 9.44 crore farmers. In West Bengal, over ₹900 crore will land in the bank accounts of 45 lakh beneficiaries, pushing cumulative state disbursements past the ₹15,000 crore mark since 2019.

    • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): Formal introduction of the crop insurance scheme to West Bengal, aiming to cover nearly 50 lakh farmers and 14 lakh hectares of land with an insured asset pool of ₹28,140 crore for 2026–27.

    • AgriStack Launch: A unified digital infrastructure framework under the Digital Agriculture Mission to streamline verified deliveries of fertilizers, Kisan Credit Cards, and Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurements.

    • National Mission on Natural Farming: Activation of an annual action plan setting up 346 natural farming clusters across 17,300 hectares, backed by new Bio-Input Resource Centres.

    • PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY): Focused multi-scheme rural convergence driving irrigation, credit access, and crop diversification across the four key districts of Purulia, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, and Jhargram.

    2. Allied Sectors & Rural Connectivity

    • Fisheries Infrastructure: Inauguration of the modernized and expanded Fishing Harbour at Fraserganj (South 24 Parganas) and a new Modern Fish Market at Sainthia (Birbhum).

    • Livestock Breeding: Unveiling of Eastern India’s first Regional Semen Production Laboratory and Semen Bank for Goats at Haringhata in Nadia district.

    • PMGSY-III Connectivity: Dedication of 49 rural road projects stretching across 315 kilometers built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

    3. Railway Infrastructure (₹590 Crore Package)

    • Sankrail–Santragachi Link Line: Commissioning of this Howrah-based link line to decongest heavy-density freight and passenger movement in Eastern India.

    • Howrah New Divisional Railway Hospital: Foundation stone layout for a modern, 300-bed advanced specialist diagnostic and emergency care hospital facility.

    • Purba Medinipur ROB: Foundation stone for a new Road Over Bridge built between Haur and Radhamohanpur.

Day 2: Kolkata (June 21) — International Yoga Day & Naval Commissionings

    1. 12th International Day of Yoga (6:30 AM)

Prime Minister Modi will lead the national celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga from Red Road, Kolkata. Under the 2026 global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the PM will address thousands of practitioners and execute the Common Yoga Protocol session, anchoring concurrent global celebrations crossing 2,500 locations.

    2. Indigenous Warship Fleet Inductions (9:15 AM)

At the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, the Prime Minister will officially commission three indigenously designed and constructed warships into the Indian Navy’s fleet. Designed by the Warship Design Bureau and built locally by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), the vessels feature over 75% indigenous content with components from 200 Indian MSMEs:

    • INS Dunagiri: An advanced stealth frigate built for high-end surface war operations.

    • INS Sanshodhak: A large-scale survey vessel designed to map maritime territory.

    • INS Agray: An anti-submarine warfare shallow-water craft designed to protect coastal waters.
