NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives following a tragic boat capsizing incident in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the rapid recovery of those injured in the accident.
Financial Assistance Announced Under PMNRF
To support the families of the victims and the survivors during this crisis, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced immediate financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF):

Next of Kin: An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim.

The Injured: A sum of ₹50,000 will be given to each injured individual to support their medical treatment.

“The loss of lives due to the capsizing of a boat in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal is deeply painful. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest.
