NEW DELHI — Escalating his attack on the Union Government, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi joined protesting students at Jantar Mantar, demanding the immediate and total removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the Cabinet.

Following the conclusion of a 23-day hunger strike by student activists, Gandhi explicitly rejected any proposal of a internal portfolio transfer for Pradhan, maintaining that total exit from the ministry is non-negotiable. He further called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take concrete administrative action rather than issuing video statements, while demanding an official apology and accountability for police force used against student demonstrators.

    Core Demands & Political Takeaways

    • Ministerial Dismissal: Demanded the complete sacking of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, ruling out a portfolio reassignment.

    • Direct Action Over Outreach: Called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate policy action instead of posting late-night video messages.

    • Legal Accountability: Urged strict action against police personnel involved in using lathis and pellets against student protesters.

    • Official Apology: Demanded a formal apology from the Prime Minister to the injured students.
