NEW DELHI — In a major disaster response effort, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has successfully rescued 170 people stranded by severe floodwaters across Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and South Gujarat.
Executing 11 complex operations since the midnight of July 22, 2026, ICG units—working alongside local civil authorities—navigated relentless rainfall and hazardous conditions under the service’s motto, ‘Vayam Rakshamah’ (We Protect).
Major Rescue Highlights & Key Operations

Mass Evacuations: Airlifted and evacuated 60 people stranded at the flooded Welspun Industrial Area and 33 people from Mendar Village in Navsari district.

Emergency Medical Response: Successfully rescued a nine-month pregnant woman, a patient in severe respiratory distress in Avadh Society, and an individual experiencing acute chest pain in Navsari.

Targeted Operations: Conducted night rescues in Khanvel (Silvassa), Kadaiya, Dongri, the Reliance Industries area, and the Valsad-Pardi region using both surface teams and helicopters.
