Senior civil servant Alka Nangia Arora has taken over as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), effective August 1, 2026.
A 1991-batch officer belonging to the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Arora now leads the apex body managing the financial administration of the Ministry of Defence. In her capacity as CGDA, she will steer the department’s accounting mechanisms, budget implementation, and internal financial controls to ensure fiscal discipline across all armed forces branches and defense platforms.
