NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos on Wednesday, engaging in high-level discussions centered on tapping India’s vast creative economy and expanding its role in the international media landscape.
During the interaction, PM Modi highlighted the country’s deep heritage of narrative arts and its expanding digital infrastructure, emphasizing that India is uniquely positioned to emerge as a global epicenter for film and television production.
Taking to social media platform X following the meeting, the Prime Minister noted the strategic potential of the domestic entertainment ecosystem.
“Glad to have met Mr. Ted Sarandos. Discussed the immense potential of India’s media and entertainment sector,” PM Modi posted. “India has a rich tradition of storytelling and an extraordinary pool of creative talent, which can be leveraged to strengthen our nation’s position as a global hub for content creation.”
The high-level exchange comes as major global streaming networks continue to ramp up investments in original Indian content, driven by rapid internet penetration, a booming local audience base, and growing international appetite for Indian cinema and television series.
