NEW DELHI – Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has hailed the parliamentary passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, calling it a definitive move toward realizing the vision of a “New India.”

In a statement issued on Friday, the Home Minister emphasized that the legislation will drastically simplify the regulatory landscape for both citizens and entrepreneurs.

Key Highlights of the Home Minister’s Statement:

    • Accelerating Reform: Shah described the Bill as a “giant step” that will accelerate both Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business across the country.

    • Streamlining Regulations: By cutting down on redundant legal provisions, the Bill is designed to make daily life easier and business operations significantly simpler.

    • Vision of New India: The Home Minister noted that the reform aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s goal of creating a trust-based governance framework that reduces the interference of outdated laws.

    Legislative Impact

The Jan Vishwas Bill, 2026, focuses on the decriminalization of minor procedural lapses, replacing criminal penalties with monetary fines. This shift is expected to reduce the burden on the judiciary and protect individuals and small businesses from unnecessary litigation.

The endorsement from the Home Ministry underscores the government’s unified push toward comprehensive regulatory reform as the 2026-27 fiscal year begins.
