RAISEN/DELHI – Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced that a national-level ‘Krishi Mahakumbh’ will be held in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, from April 11 to 13, 2026. The event aims to revolutionize the rural economy by providing farmers with multi-dimensional income opportunities beyond traditional crop cultivation.
Event Highlights: From Farm to Market
The festival will serve as a comprehensive platform for the entire agricultural value chain, focusing on:
-
Livestock & Dairy: Showcasing elite cattle breeds (Gir, Sahiwal) and high-value poultry like Kadaknath.
-
Fisheries & Aquaculture: Live demonstrations of pearl farming, biofloc systems, and aquaponics to generate high income in limited spaces.
-
Empowering Women: Features “Drone Didis” and “Krishi Sakhis” demonstrating drone services and organic farming models.
Strengthening Market Links
A major focus of the Mahakumbh is the transition from “local to national” branding:
-
FPO Pavilion: Over 50 Farmer Producer Organisations will exhibit value-added products, including GI-tagged Chinnor rice and Sharbati wheat.
-
Marketing Strategy: An FPO conference on April 12 will provide specialized training on branding, e-commerce, and cold chain logistics.
-
Youth Entrepreneurship: Direct interactions with scientists and agriculture start-ups will be hosted to encourage rural youth to view farming as a modern business enterprise.
The Vision for 2026-27
Minister Chouhan emphasized that the event is designed to create “multiple strong pillars of income” for small and marginal farmers. By integrating dairy, goat rearing, and fisheries with traditional agriculture, the Ministry aims to build a sustainable, circular farming model that ensures year-round profitability.
