Lucknow | April 12, 2026 — The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a targeted reshuffle within its police administration, issuing immediate transfer orders for three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The move focuses on balancing district-level leadership and strengthening the state’s specialized units.
New Roles and Responsibilities
The latest orders impact officers across three different batches, redistributing leadership in Deoria and Ambedkar Nagar:

Shri Sanjeev Suman (2014 Batch): Moving from his role as SP Deoria, he has been transitioned to the DGP Headquarters in Lucknow. He will now serve as Superintendent of Police, Attached to the Headquarters.

Prachi Singh (2017 Batch): Previously the Commandant of the 32nd Battalion PAC (Lucknow), she has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police for Ambedkar Nagar.

Shri Abhijit R. Shankar (2018 Batch): In a cross-district swap, the outgoing SP of Ambedkar Nagar will take over as the Superintendent of Police for Deoria.
Strategic Objectives
By rotating these officers, the state administration aims to optimize law enforcement efficiency in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The placement of Prachi Singh and Abhijit R. Shankar in district-head positions is intended to bring fresh tactical oversight to their respective jurisdictions.
All three officers are expected to relinquish their current charges and assume their new duties with immediate effect.
