BENGALURU – The Karnataka government has announced a major extension for the state’s police leadership, ensuring continuity at the top of the law enforcement hierarchy. Dr. M.A. Saleem, IPS, will continue to serve as the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) for an extended term.

A formal notification released by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on April 16, 2026, confirms that Dr. Saleem’s tenure has been pushed to August 29, 2027. This move comes as the state seeks to maintain stability in its internal security and administrative framework.
