HOWRAH – In a strategic move to reinforce the state’s central administration, the Government of West Bengal has officially reassigned two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The directive, issued on May 10, 2026, by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, outlines a swift transition for the officers to ensure the continued efficiency of the state’s highest executive office.
The New CMO Appointees
The reshuffle involves two officers from recent cadres, bringing a mix of departmental expertise and district-level experience to Nabanna:

Shri P. Promoth, IAS (WB:2019): Transitions from his role as Joint Secretary of the MS & ME & T Department to serve as Joint Secretary in the CMO.

Shri Navneet Mittal, IAS (WB:2020): Relinquishes his post as ADM of Paschim Medinipur to take up his new assignment as Joint Secretary in the CMO.
Administrative Significance
The formal notification, signed by Rajesh Pandey, Additional Chief Secretary, confirms that these appointments are effective immediately. By drafting officers from the 2019 and 2020 batches, the administration is signaling a focus on agility and fresh perspective within the Chief Minister’s core advisory team.
Next Steps
The state has ensured a seamless handover by notifying the Principal Accountant General and the Advisor to the Chief Minister.
