SILIGURI — Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in West Bengal tonight to commence a high-profile, three-day official visit. The tour will span both North and South Bengal, focusing heavily on border security infrastructure, administrative performance, and the implementation of national legislative frameworks.

The Home Minister is scheduled to land at Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri at 9:00 PM tonight, moving directly to the Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier Headquarters in Kadamtala for an overnight stay.

Day 1: Border Security Operations and Technical Mandates

The initial leg of the visit centers on evaluating operational readiness along the international border and reinforcing the infrastructure of frontline security forces:

    • Frontier Inspections: Mr. Shah will travel to the BSF’s 18th Battalion stationed at Seema Chowki in Jumagachh.

    • Personnel Engagement: He will address the Prahari Sammelan, interacting directly with frontline BSF jawans to review border management challenges.

    • Infrastructure Launch: The Home Minister is slated to lay foundation stones and inaugurate a series of fresh developmental projects built to upgrade border outposts.

Day 2: High-Level Administrative and Legal Review

Shifting focus to regional governance, the Home Minister will anchor a series of crucial bureaucratic reviews at Uttar Kanya, the state’s northern administrative secretariat in Siliguri, before departing for Kolkata:

    • Judicial Transition: A primary objective of the high-level meetings will be monitoring the implementation and ground-level adaptation of India’s new criminal laws within the West Bengal judicial and policing framework.

    • Civil Registry Scrutiny: The administrative panels will also evaluate the current status, efficiency, and data integration of the birth and death registration systems across the state.

Day 3: Security Frameworks and Industrial Development

The final day of the itinerary in Kolkata blends state internal security assessments with cultural and commercial development milestones:

    • Law and Order Briefing: Mr. Shah will chair a critical evaluation meeting with senior security brass to review the prevailing law and order situation throughout West Bengal.

    • Cultural Infrastructure: He will officially inaugurate the newly constructed Word Museum housed at the historic National Library in Kolkata.

    • Agro-Industrial Push: Expanding the state’s dairy processing footprint, the Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for Amul Bengal Dairy’s brand-new, high-capacity curd manufacturing facility.
