NEW DELHI — On the eve of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, the Ministry of Ayush has issued a nationwide invitation to citizens to participate in mass yoga demonstrations scheduled for June 21, 2026. Championing the spirit of Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation), this year’s celebrations aim to merge India’s ancient wellness traditions with its rich civilizational history.

The marquee national event will take place at the historic Red Road in Kolkata, West Bengal, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country in practicing the Common Yoga Protocol.

Cultural Confluence: Yoga at 100 Iconic Heritage Sites

In a unique collaboration, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ministry of Culture is organizing special IDY 2026 sessions across 100 iconic monuments and landmarks spanning 23 States and Union Territories. Some of the key venues across Delhi include:

    • Central Landmarks: Kartavya Path, Lawn of Shantipath, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, and Palika Park (CP Central Park).

    • Heritage Spaces: Red Fort, Qila Rai Pithora, and Coronation Park (Burari).

    A Call for Global Well-being

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, urged communities, institutions, and individuals to join the movement in large numbers. Participants are encouraged to arrive early at their nearest designated venues to synchronously perform the Common Yoga Protocol, projecting India’s unified message of health, harmony, and structural well-being to the global stage.
