BASTAR (CHHATTISGARH): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the Shaheed Veer Gundadhur Seva Dera Jan Suvidha Kendra in Netanar village, Bastar. The milestone event signifies a major transition for the region following the declaration of the eradication of Naxalism on March 31, 2026.

The inauguration was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan, and Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Shri Tapan Deka.

From Security Camp to Public Service Hub

The newly inaugurated Jan Suvidha Kendra is established at the site of the Netanar security camp, which had been operational since 2013. The location holds historical significance as the birthplace of tribal leader Shaheed Veer Gundadhur, who led the Bhumkal Rebellion against foreign rule in 1910.

    • Symbolic Transformation: The site, where six policemen were once killed by Naxals, has been converted into a public service hub.

    • Service Expansion: The central government announced plans to convert 70 out of the existing 200 security camps in Bastar into similar welfare-focused Service Centres (Seva Kendras) within the next 1.5 years.

    Consolidation of Welfare Schemes

The new facility integrates a Common Service Centre (CSC) designed to provide a single-window delivery system for 371 Central and State Government schemes. The center will provide the local tribal population with direct access to critical administrative services, including:

    • Identity & Documentation: Allocation and registration of official government identification cards and ration cards.

    • Financial Services: Integrated banking facilities and direct disbursement of financial benefits under various state welfare initiatives.

    • Essential Provisions: Distribution tracking for the state’s subsidized ration system (providing 7 kg of rice per month per person) and enrollment assistance for the Ayushman Bharat free medical treatment scheme (up to ₹5 lakh).

    Institutional Framework for Regional Development

The operational strategy aligns with the state government’s “Niyad Nellanar” initiative, which focuses on establishing primary schools, affordable ration shops, and cluster public service centers across remote tribal villages.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah emphasized that the administrative objective extends beyond tactical security operations to ensuring infrastructure parity between rural tribal zones and urban centers. The Ministry outlined a five-year development blueprint to rebuild schools, healthcare facilities, and transport links previously disrupted by regional conflict. Additionally, socio-cultural initiatives such as the Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum have been institutionalized to preserve and promote regional tribal sports, literature, and art on a global stage.
