NEW DELHI — The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (RG & CCI) today launched six high-tech LED mobile awareness vans from Janganana Bhawan to drive public participation in the ongoing Census 2027.
Outreach and Participation in Delhi
The mobile units will traverse the National Capital Territory (NCT), educating residents on the Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO).

MCD Areas: Self-Enumeration is currently live through the official portal until May 15, 2026.

NDMC & Cantonment Areas: Following the completion of the digital phase, enumerators are now conducting house-to-house field visits, scheduled to conclude by mid-May.
National Progress: 92 Lakh Households and Counting
The 2027 Census marks the historic introduction of the Self-Enumeration (SE) facility, which has already seen approximately 92 lakh households participate across 23 States and UTs.

New Launch: Uttar Pradesh officially began its Self-Enumeration phase today, running from May 7 to May 21, 2026.

Current Active States: Digital enumeration is also ongoing in Telangana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and Jharkhand.

The Process: Residents are asked 33 questions regarding housing conditions, amenities, and assets to aid national development planning.

Confidentiality: Under the Census Act, 1948, all data collected is strictly confidential and used only for statistical purposes.

Important Step: Residents who use the self-service portal must save their SE ID and share it with the enumerator during their field visit to finalize the process.
The government continues to urge citizens to cooperate with enumerators during this essential national exercise, emphasizing that accurate data is the foundation for effective policy formulation and public service delivery.
