The West Bengal government has formally announced the setup of the Seventh State Pay Commission, appointing senior retired bureaucrat Atanu Chakraborty to lead the panel tasked with revising pay scales across state departments.
Chakraborty, a 1985-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer who formerly served as Union Economic Affairs Secretary, will head the four-member body as it undertakes a comprehensive review of remuneration structures for state employees and public sector staff.
