    In a detailed briefing to lawmakers aimed at addressing growing concerns among Gen Z over job prospects, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya outlined the nation’s ten-year employment scorecard, revealing that India created over 17 crore jobs from 2014 to 2024.

    Supported by figures from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the presentation highlighted a steady annual trajectory of 1.7 crore new opportunities, driving a sharp expansion in both formal sector employment and graduate employability.

    Key Employment Metrics at a Glance

    • 10-Year Job Creation: 17 Crore+ Opportunities (RBI Source Data)

    • Unemployment Benchmark: Declined to 3.1% in 2025 (Outperforming the global average of 4.8%)

    • Youth Employment Level: Scaled past 41.4%

    • Graduate Employability: Increased by 66%

    • ₹2 Lakh Crore Youth Outlay: Dedicated funding targeted at skilling, apprenticeship, and formal job creation for over 4.1 crore young adults.

    • Targeted Rozgar Scheme: The PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana aims to generate 3.5 crore targeted jobs.

    • Grassroots Entrepreneurship: Schemes like PM Mudra, PM Vishwakarma, and Lakhpati Didi continue to foster micro-entrepreneurship and self-employment.

    Poverty Reduction & Social Safety Net Growth
