PANAJI / MUMBAI: The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has officially opened nominations for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2026. This national honor is designed to celebrate exceptional achievements by children whose trailblazing contributions have made a positive impact on society and inspired peers across the country.

The centralized portal began accepting applications on April 1, 2026, and the strict deadline for all online submissions is set for July 31, 2026.

    Core Eligibility Criteria and Categories

The national awards are designed to identify and honor talented, public-spirited young individuals under 18 years of age who excel in core developmental and civic disciplines.

    • Age Limit: Nominees must be citizens of India and under 18 years of age as of July 31, 2026.

    • Recognized Categories: The selection committee will evaluate exceptional public contributions across six distinct fields:

      • Bravery: Acts of selflessness, spontaneous courage, and life-saving risk-taking.

      • Science & Technology: Original innovations, scientific research papers, and advanced software/hardware design.

      • Environment: Ground-level conservation efforts, climate activism, and sustainable eco-innovations.

      • Sports: Exceptional performance and medal placement in state, national, or international athletic championships.

      • Art & Culture: Prodigious talent in classical or contemporary music, visual arts, theater, and literature preservation.

      • Social Service: Continuous, high-impact community leadership, volunteerism, and advocacy for social welfare.

    Strategic Focus on Inclusive Selection

To ensure that the award process remains broad-based, democratic, and truly representative of the nation’s diverse talent, the Ministry has urged central line ministries, state departments, and Union Territory administrations to proactively look beyond conventional urban centers.

Special grassroots efforts are being directed toward identifying extraordinary, under-reported achievements among:

    • Young girls breaking barriers in non-traditional fields.

    • Children belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities.

    • Divyang (specially-abled) individuals who have overcome physical or cognitive challenges to achieve national or regional excellence.

    Submission Framework and Application Process

In alignment with the government’s digitized governance initiatives, the entire evaluation pipeline has been streamlined to prevent administrative delays:

    • The Portal: Nominations and recommendations will be processed exclusively through the unified Rashtriya Puraskar Portal at https://awards.gov.in. Physical forms or offline entries will not be entertained.

    • Sponsoring Bodies: Applications can be submitted directly by the eligible child, their parents/guardians, or recommended by local school boards, sports bodies, district magistrates, or recognized civil society organizations before the July 31, 2026 cutoff.
