    New Delhi | August 5, 2026

    The Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) met in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav to deliberate on Human–Wildlife Conflict (HWC) Mitigation.

    The committee evaluated technological integration, community engagement, and regional strategies to foster long-term coexistence between human populations and wildlife across high-conflict landscapes.

    Key National Institutional Developments & Milestones

    • Centre of Excellence on Human–Wildlife Conflict (CoE-HWC): Formally established at WII-SACON, Coimbatore, as a national apex body for scientific research, policy formulation, technological innovation, and capacity building.

    • National Human–Wildlife Conflict Portal: Launched on July 10, 2026, serving as a unified digital platform for incident recording, real-time data management, and decision support.

    • Regional Action Plan (RAP): Formal approval granted for the Elephant Conservation Action Plan for South India.

    • Scientific Carrying Capacity Assessment: Proposed by MoS (EFCC) Kirti Vardhan Singh to conduct habitat-based scientific assessments evaluating ecosystem carrying capacity to balance resource availability with wildlife populations.
