Vice Admiral AN Pramod, AVSM, YSM, officially assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (DCNS) on August 1, 2026. He succeeds Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, who superannuated from active service on July 31, 2026, after completing an illustrious 38-year career.
Prior to taking over as Deputy Chief, Vice Admiral Pramod served as the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO) from December 2023 through July 2026, where he played a central operational role in directing naval readiness during key regional security deployments, including Operation Sindoor. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1990, the Flag Officer brings over 36 years of distinguished operational, command, and staff experience across frontline sea and air assignments.
