KOLKATA — In a significant administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has announced new high-level appointments within the state’s Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre, effective immediately.
Key Appointments
The most notable change involves Dr. Saumitra Mohan, a seasoned 2002-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre. Dr. Mohan has been officially appointed as the Secretary to the Governor of West Bengal. His transition to Raj Bhavan is expected to streamline administrative coordination between the state government and the Governor’s office.
Additionally, the state has assigned further responsibilities to Surendra Gupta, a senior officer from the 1997 batch. Currently serving as the Divisional Commissioner of the Presidency Division, Gupta will now also take on the additional charge of Principal Secretary of the Transport Department.
