NEW DELHI — Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chaired a high-level review meeting at Krishi Bhawan to evaluate the progress of the flagship Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) across 100 targeted districts.
The review highlighted significant operational gains, with the overall performance score of the 100 low-productivity districts rising sharply from 22.54 in April to 38.85 in July 2026—reflecting a 16.31-point improvement driven by data-based monitoring and multi-ministerial scheme convergence.
Performance Metrics and Core Objectives
PM-DDKY targets 100 backward agricultural districts characterized by low crop yields, low cropping intensity, and constrained credit access. Progress across 121 indicators (74 output and 47 outcome) showed marked objective-wise improvements from April to July 2026:
-
Agricultural Productivity: Increased from 2.53 to 6.70
-
Crop Diversification & Sustainability: Increased from 5.60 to 8.65
-
Irrigation Infrastructure: Increased from 1.65 to 4.20
-
Agricultural Credit Access: Increased from 2.81 to 5.59
-
Governance & Service Delivery: Increased from 7.94 to 10.33
-
Post-Harvest Storage Capacity: Increased from 2.61 to 3.82
All 100 Dhan-Dhaanya districts have finalized and uploaded their comprehensive District Action Plans (DAPs) to the central monitoring portal.
Inter-Ministerial Convergence & Dashboard Enhancement
The scheme integrates 36 Central schemes spanning 11 Union Ministries and Departments, complemented by state initiatives and private-sector partnerships:
-
Financial & Beneficiary Modules: Following the launch of the Financial Progress Module on August 31, 2026, a dedicated Beneficiary Progress Module will go live by mid-September 2026 to track individual farmer benefits.
-
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): The Department of Public Enterprises has formally included PM-DDKY districts under approved CSR focus areas for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for FY 2026–27 and FY 2027–28.
-
Farmer Representation: The Ministry proposed nominating two progressive farmers to each District Dhan-Dhaanya Committee to ground policy decisions in local agricultural realities.
Capacity Building and Milestone Planning
Capacity development remains a core pillar of the initiative. Between January and July 2026, over 6.90 lakh farmers and 88,961 extension workers underwent technical training via Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), with an additional 2.20 lakh individuals trained specifically in natural farming protocols.
Launched by the Prime Minister on October 11, 2025, PM-DDKY will mark its first anniversary in October 2026. The Agriculture Ministry plans to showcase the scheme’s key milestones during upcoming Rabi and regional agricultural conferences.
