MUMBAI — Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that all 21 BJP-led NDA state governments across the country will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) before 2029. Addressing media personnel in Mumbai, the Home Minister highlighted that the UCC has already been introduced in select states and expressed firm confidence in its nationwide adoption across all ruling coalition jurisdictions within the designated timeframe.
Reiterating the government’s stance on gender equity and legal reform, Shah noted that the abolition of triple talaq has successfully ensured equal rights for Muslim women.
Transforming the Criminal Justice System
Focusing on structural judicial reforms, the Home Minister asserted that the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has significantly modernized and strengthened India’s criminal justice architecture.

Higher Conviction Rates: Several states have already reported a 30 percent increase in conviction rates within a single year following the implementation of the new criminal laws.

Time-Bound Justice: The government is actively establishing an institutional framework designed to guarantee that legal proceedings conclude and justice is delivered within three years.
National Security, Counter-Terrorism, and Integration
Shah outlined major achievements in domestic security, citing a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism enforced through key military actions, including surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor.
