NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to citizens across the country on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, praying for national progress, success, and prosperity.
In an official message released on Monday, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that the festival dedicated to Vighnaharta—the remover of obstacles—would bring renewed energy and enthusiasm to every individual’s life. He further prayed that the divine blessings of Lord Ganesha would crown the nation’s efforts with success as India continues to advance on the path of development.
Invoking the Divine Shloka
Sharing a famous Sanskrit verse dedicated to Lord Vinayaka, the Prime Minister posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“मुदाकरात्तमोदकं सदा विमुक्तिसाधकं
कलाधरावतंसकं विलासिलोकरक्षकम्।
अनायकैकनायकं विनाशितेभदैत्यकं
नताशुभाशुनाशकं नमामि तं विनायकम्॥”
The classical Subhashitam translates to a prayer of devotion: “I bow to Lord Shri Vinayaka, whose hands hold modakas; who guides seekers toward liberation; who wears the crescent moon upon his forehead; who is the protector of the universe and the supreme lord of the cosmos; who vanquished the demon Gajasura and swiftly frees his devotees from all afflictions.”
Concluding his greetings with the traditional slogan “Ganpati Bappa Morya!”, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed his wishes for peace, prosperity, and collective national growth during the festive season.
