MUMBAI – The curtains came down on the 63rd National Maritime Day Celebrations with a grand finale at the Bharatratnam Auditorium on April 5, 2026. Centered on the theme “Maritime India, Empowering Progress,” the event marked the culmination of Merchant Navy Week, drawing together top leaders and stakeholders from India’s shipping and ports sectors.

National Recognition: The week-long celebrations commenced with the ceremonial lapel pinning for President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the strategic importance of the maritime fraternity.

Leadership Presence: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Shri Nitesh Rane, served as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the sector’s role in driving India’s economic growth.

The event underscored India’s goal of becoming a global maritime powerhouse. High-ranking officials, including Director General of Shipping Shri Shyam Jagannathan and CMD of the Shipping Corporation of India Shri B. K. Tyagi, attended to reinforce the commitment to modernizing trade infrastructure and empowering the maritime workforce.
