NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an ancient Sanskrit Subhashitam from the Atharvaveda (Prithvi Sukta) on X, emphasizing the sacred legacy of India as a land of spiritual dedication, valor, and universal welfare.
The Prime Minister expressed his wish that India’s rich heritage and ancient culture continue to bring happiness and abundant prosperity to all.
The Verse and Its Significance
The Prime Minister shared the following Vedic verse:
यस्यां पूर्वे पूर्वजना विचक्रिरे यस्यां देवा असुरानभ्यवर्तयन् । गवामश्वानां वयसश्च विष्ठा भगं वर्चः पृथिवी नो दधातु ।।
Translation: “May the land where our ancestors performed great and benevolent deeds, and where the forces of righteousness triumphed over unjust forces—that motherland, abundant in livestock, energy, and strength, grant us vast space, well-being, and radiant prosperity.”
