NEW DELHI: In alignment with the Government of India’s Swachhata initiatives, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has announced significant achievements in workplace optimization and cleanliness drives conducted between December 2025 and August 2026.
Across 456 cleanliness campaigns, the Ministry weeded out 6,115 files, freed approximately 6.14 lakh sq. ft. of office space, and generated around ₹60.34 crore in revenue through scrap disposal. These initiatives have substantially improved workplace efficiency, optimized space utilization, and fostered a healthier working environment across MHI and its affiliated Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Autonomous Bodies (ABs).
The announcement follows MHI’s strong performance during Special Campaign 5.0 (October 2025), where it secured the 2nd position nationally in space freed (44.44 lakh sq. ft., repurposed for meeting halls, libraries, and office areas) and 6th position in revenue generation by raising ₹9.88 crore from scrap disposal.
Looking ahead, MHI is finalizing key locations to launch its main phase for the upcoming Special Campaign 6.0, scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
Additionally, following the observation of Swachhata Pakhwada from August 16 to 30, 2026, the Ministry is actively participating in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026 (September 17 – October 2, 2026). Under this year’s theme, “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat,” MHI’s focus areas include the transformation of Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), youth engagement through Swachh Paathshala, SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir, public participation (Jan Bhagidari), and Swachhata se Samriddhi.
