NEW DELHI — The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, has officially launched the nation-wide Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 campaign across its central headquarters, attached offices, and public sector undertakings.
Operating under the thematic umbrella ‘Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat’, the initiative aligns with guidelines from the Department of Urban Development and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation to drive behavioral and cultural transformation in public sanitation.
Key Programmatic Pillars & Inter-Agency Activities

Executive Leadership & Administration: DFPD Secretary Sanjeev Chopra administered the foundational Swachhata pledge to central ministry officials at Krishi Bhawan, initiating campus-wide cleanliness drives and staff competitions.

Sanitation Worker Welfare: DFPD conducted specialized health check-up camps and social security workshops for Safai Mitras and their families, providing direct outreach on government welfare scheme benefits.

PSU Sourcing & Operations: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) mobilized its headquarters, regional, and district offices—including hubs in Maharashtra, Odisha, Gujarat, Haryana, and Telangana—to conduct health screening camps and operational hygiene drives.

Storage & Quality Control Engagement: Field stations of the Indian Grain Storage Management and Research Institute (IGMRI) and local Quality Control Cell (QCC) offices executed youth-focused awareness programs under the Swachh Paathshala – Yuva for Swachhata pillar.

Institutional Initiatives: Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) organized localized beautification drives in Mayur Vihar, while the National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur, activated institute-wide sanitation protocols.
