NEW DELHI – The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, has partnered with Gurugram-based Casey Aviation Private Limited to develop the “Boost Electric Jump Take-Off (BE-JTO)” system. This project is a key part of the India–UK Collaborative R&D Programme, supported by UK-based ARC Aerosystems Ltd.
Hybrid Propulsion & Jump Take-Off
The project focuses on creating a hybrid propulsion system designed to enable near-vertical take-off for gyrocopters and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). By significantly reducing take-off distances, this technology will enhance operational flexibility for:

Unmanned logistics and surveillance.

Medical evacuations and disaster response.

Regional connectivity in remote or inaccessible areas.
Boosting the Aviation Ecosystem
A major highlight of this agreement is the establishment of a dedicated propulsion test bench facility in North India—one of the first of its kind in the region. This infrastructure will serve as a validation hub for startups and developers working on advanced aerial mobility, helping to bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization.
Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of TDB, noted that such international collaborations are vital for strategic sectors, reinforcing India’s capabilities in sustainable and efficient unmanned aviation. Casey Aviation aims to use this support to validate its technology in real-world conditions and scale its solutions for the global market.
