NEW DELHI: To accelerate self-reliance in the military manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Defence will host a comprehensive two-day workshop on defence procurement, Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), Technology Perspective Capability Roadmap (TPCR), and Testing Procedures at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt, on June 11 and 12, 2026.
The specialized event is being jointly organized by the Indigenisation Directorate, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), and the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS). The primary objective of the workshop is to drive deeper awareness and encourage active involvement of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and tech start-ups within the domestic defence ecosystem.
The institutional platform will offer industry players direct insights into complex defence acquisition mechanisms and indigenisation reforms. Senior officers and domain experts from HQ IDS, Service Headquarters, the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), and the iDEX-Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) will conduct interactive sessions to address structural roadblocks faced by private vendors.
Key Highlights of the Two-Day Agenda

Day 1 Focus: The inaugural session will be addressed by Air Marshal Praveen Keshav Vohra, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Policy Planning & Force Development), and Maj Gen (Dr) Ashok Kumar (Retd), Director General of CENJOWS. Discussions will center on the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP), revenue procurement parameters, import substitution mapping via the SRIJAN portal, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Day 2 Focus: Technical sessions will pivot toward the iDEX framework, prototype development, environmental testing, certification systems, user trials, and DRDO’s role in research and development. Additionally, a dedicated session on the TPCR and a high-level panel discussion with venture capitalists are scheduled to explore funding avenues for defence start-ups.
By fostering close collaboration between the Armed Forces, scientific bodies, and private entrepreneurs, the workshop aims to significantly bolster the government’s ongoing ‘Aatmanirbharta in Defence’ mandate and streamline indigenous supply chains.
