NEW DELHI – The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) hosted a high-level Italian delegation from M/S Fincantieri at its headquarters on April 30, 2026. Led by Director General Paramesh Sivamani, the interaction focused on strategic collaborations for future shipbuilding projects and the integration of cutting-edge maritime technologies.
The delegation included Anna Ruffino from the Embassy of Italy and Eugenio Santagata of Fincantieri’s Military Naval Vessel Division.
Key Areas of Technological Collaboration
The discussions emphasized advanced design and propulsion systems to enhance the operational capability of the ICG:

Modular & Resilient Design: Focus on resilient hulls for high sea states and modular ship designs for rapid multi-role adaptability.

In line with India’s self-reliance goals, both parties explored the co-development of niche indigenous technologies:

AI & Defense: Implementation of AI-enabled decision support and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) for anti-drone defense.
