NEW DELHI — Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has launched a direct public attack on yoga guru Baba Ramdev, telling him not to “daydream” about her youth or private life after he criticized her controversial statements regarding Gen Z protesters.
Writing on Instagram, the BJP MP responded directly to comments made by Ramdev, who had publicly questioned her past deeds and background while reacting to her recent controversies.
The Exchange and Legal Jibes
In her social media post, Ranaut defended her background while referencing past legal scrutiny faced by Ramdev’s business endeavors.
“Baba ji, don’t daydream about my jawani (youth) or bedroom… At least the Supreme Court has never named me in a case for false/fraud efficacy claims,” Ranaut wrote, contrasting her record with past legal proceedings involving Patanjali Ayurved’s product advertising.
She further asserted that her character was “much better” than his, dismissing his attempts to offer moral lessons.
The jibe references the 2024 proceedings in which Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna submitted an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court of India concerning misleading advertisements published by Patanjali Ayurved.
Backdrop: The ‘Generation Gutter’ Controversy
The friction between the two figures stems from Ranaut’s previous remarks regarding youth-led demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
-
Initial Comments: Ranaut had faced significant pushback after using the term “generation gutter” in connection with protests organized by groups including the satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), particularly highlighting instances where abusive language was directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
-
Clarification: Facing widespread criticism, Ranaut later defended her phrasing, arguing that her remarks were directed specifically at individuals associate with drug use, online gambling, or those self-identifying with the satirical “cockroach” label, rather than the broader youth demographic.
Ramdev had joined several public figures in critiquing her choice of words, questioning her standing to lecture the younger generation—a stance that prompted Ranaut’s latest retort.
