NEW DELHI — In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L. Murugan outlined the expansion of youth democratic engagement through the upgraded National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS 2.0) web portal, launched on September 11, 2024.
Unlike its predecessor, which restricted participation to students of recognized institutions, the NYPS 2.0 framework opens youth parliament participation to all educational institutions, civil society groups, and individual citizens across India. Since its launch, the portal has logged 103,791 total citizen and student participants across institutional, group, and individual channels. The ministry also noted ongoing digital upgrades to the Consultative Committee Management System (CCMS), which currently hosts 42 onboarded Consultative Committees.
