GANDHINAGAR — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in his home state of Gujarat late tomorrow night for a two-day visit focused on spiritual heritage and educational empowerment. The trip is highlighted by the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav, a landmark event celebrating 75 years since the historic restoration of the Somnath Temple.
Somnath: Celebrating 75 Years of Restoration
On the morning of May 11, the Prime Minister will lead the “Amrut Mahotsav” celebrations at the Somnath Temple, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The event marks the platinum jubilee of the temple’s inauguration following its post-independence restoration.
As part of the sacred festivities, the Prime Minister will perform:

Vishesh Maha Puja: A special prayer service for the occasion.

Kumbhabhishek & Dhvajarohan: Participating in the ritual consecration and the ceremonial hoisting of the temple flag.

Commemorative Releases: The PM will unveil a special postage stamp and a commemorative coin to honor the temple’s civilizational significance.
Vadodara: Expanding Educational Infrastructure
Following the events at Somnath, the Prime Minister will travel to Vadodara to inaugurate the Sardardham Hostel at approximately 6 PM.
The new facility is designed to support the state’s student population with:

Dual-Wing Housing: Accommodation for 1,000 boys and 1,000 girls.

Modern Amenities: The complex features a central dining hall, an auditorium, and a comprehensive library.

Digital Learning: The PM will also tour the complex’s state-of-the-art e-Library, aimed at providing students with advanced digital resources for their studies.
