    Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan to Address IGNOU’s 39th Convocation

    NEW DELHI – The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is set to hold its 39th Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The event will celebrate the academic success of over 3.24 lakh students nationwide, marking a significant milestone for the world’s largest open university.

    The main ceremony at the University Headquarters in New Delhi will be graced by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, who will deliver the convocation address as the Chief Guest.

    Key Highlights of the Event:

    • Massive Graduation Scale: Degrees and certificates will be conferred upon 324,000 meritorious students across 51 Regional Centres and 5 Overseas Centres.

    • Distinguished Guests in Delhi: Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, will attend as the Guest of Honour at the New Delhi headquarters.

    • Bhubaneswar Regional Event: The ceremony for Odisha will be held at Jayadev Bhaban, featuring Shri Rabi Narayan Naik (Minister for Rural Development) and Shri Krushna Chandra Patra (Minister for Science and Technology) as Guests of Honour.

    • Pan-India Participation: Other notable attendees include Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Governor of Goa) at the Panaji centre and Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu (Governor of Tripura) in Agartala.

    Institutional Impact

    The 39th Convocation underscores IGNOU’s mission of providing inclusive and accessible education. With 7,119 students graduating from the Bhubaneswar Regional Centre alone, the university continues to align its academic goals with national development by fostering innovation and lifelong learning across diverse demographics.
