NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Mines has launched an expanded e-waste collection and resource recovery initiative under Special Campaign 6, focusing on responsible recycling, secondary metal extraction, and critical mineral recovery to advance India’s circular economy goals.
Implemented through the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) in Nagpur as the nodal agency, in partnership with the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI), the campaign establishes formal collection and awareness mechanisms across designated government offices nationwide.

Nationwide Infrastructure: The Ministry has finalized more than 44 office locations across India for structured e-waste collection, including its headquarters in New Delhi and over 28 locations in Maharashtra.

Critical Mineral Recovery: The drive emphasizes extracting strategic secondary metals and critical minerals embedded in discarded electronics, reducing reliance on primary mining while promoting resource efficiency.
