MUMBAI: As part of a nationwide awareness campaign, the Income Tax Department successfully organized an institutional outreach programme in Mulund, Mumbai. The initiative aimed to educate taxpayers and financial professionals on the foundational features of the newly enforced Income Tax Act, 2025, which came into effect on April 1, 2026.
The seminar was curated by the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (PCIT-5), Mumbai, and drew a large delegation of stakeholders from across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

AI Integration: Assistant Commissioner Shubham Kumar Meena conducted a live, interactive demonstration of the ‘Kar Saathi’ AI Chatbot, showcasing how the department is leveraging digital assistants to simplify tax navigation and resolve user queries in real-time.

Industry Engagement: Keynote speaker Dr. Maya Maheshwari anchored an extensive Q&A panel alongside prominent delegates, including CA R.C. Jain (Bharat Vikas Parishad) and legal academic CA Nimesh Chothani, addressing complex implementation queries raised by the audience.
The forum concluded with a vote of thanks from Additional CIT Sunil Mathews, marking a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to ensure a seamless transition into India’s modernized direct tax architecture.
