NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched DAANVEER, a crowdsourcing initiative inviting public participation to strengthen grassroots digital infrastructure across rural India.
Operating through the Meri Panchayat App, the initiative enables citizens, corporate CSR partners, philanthropic entities, and the non-resident Indian (NRI) diaspora to donate desktop computers directly to state-verified Gram Panchayats.
Integration with ONDC and End-to-End Tracking
The DAANVEER portal simplifies grassroots hardware donations through a digital process built on open-network architecture:
-
Seamless Tech Stack: Donors browse verified Gram Panchayats on the Meri Panchayat App and click “Donate Computer,” securely redirecting them to DigiHaat—an Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)-enabled digital marketplace.
-
Pre-Populated Logistics: Delivery addresses and contact details for the selected Gram Panchayat Secretary are automatically populated, eliminating manual input.
-
Standardized Specifications: Donors select from pre-approved, standardized computer bundles that meet Union Government technical guidelines.
-
Real-Time Order Fulfillment: Every stage—from digital payment and order dispatch to final delivery acknowledgement by the Panchayat Secretary—is trackable in real time. Successful donors receive an official digital Certificate of Appreciation.
Strengthening Rural Digital Governance
Complementing central schemes such as the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), the DAANVEER platform directly upgrades local administrative capacity:
-
Grassroots Operational Capacity: Donated units strengthen local capacity to handle digital governance platforms for local planning, public financial management, official record-keeping, and delivery of citizen-centric services.
-
Participatory Governance: The initiative provides a transparent mechanism for non-resident villagers, philanthropic groups, and CSR divisions to directly contribute to their native Gram Panchayats.
-
Early Adoption: As of August 27, 2026, the platform recorded 75 verified computer donations, reflecting growing public participation as additional state governments onboard eligible Panchayats.
