ROURKELA — Concluding a distinguished multi-decade tenure in the public steel sector, Tarun Misra, Executive Director (Human Resources) at SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), officially retired on August 31, 2026.
The public sector major hosted a series of farewell events across the Rourkela steel complex to honor Misra’s 37 years of service and strategic leadership within Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

Senior steel plant management and executive association representatives gathered across multiple formal programs to recognize the outgoing HR chief.

Official Handover: During a formal gathering at the ‘Manthan’ Conference Hall, Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC) of RSP, presented Misra with his official Service Certificate and superannuation mementos.

Scroll of Honor: A formal evening reception saw DIC Alok Verma present a Scroll of Honor detailing Misra’s career contributions, with the citation read by Subrat Kumar, Chief General Manager (HSMs and AUXs).

Senior Management Attendance: The ceremonies were attended by key executive directors, including B K Giri (Mines Development-CMLO), B R Palai (Works), Anil Kumar (MM), M P Singh (Mines), and S Pal Chowdhury (Projects), alongside members of the Deepika Mahila Sanghati.
Career Trajectory and Institutional Contributions
Misra’s 37-year journey at SAIL encompassed major human resource transformations across several of India’s largest integrated steel plants.

Multi-Unit Operations: Misra began his career in the operational ecosystems of the Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) and IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), later leveraging that ground-level experience to direct enterprise-wide HR strategies at Rourkela.

Executive Commendation: DIC Alok Verma highlighted Misra’s decisive management style, transparent communication, and commitment to mentoring junior cadres throughout his tenure.
